About Us

Radiant Church is an independent Spirit-empowered church under the Apostolic Network of Global Awakening (ANGA) which is part of a Revival Alliance Network.  Dr. Randy Clark is the president and apostolic leader of Global Awakening.

Radiant has its roots in the Assemblies of God, planted in the 1930’s as First Assembly in Lincoln. Originally organized in the downtown area of Lincoln, the congregation moved to the corner of 56th and R Street in circa 1979 and remained there until 2000 when they moved to the present location at the corner of 70th and Vine Street, assuming the building that was once St. Mark's Methodist Church.

The name for the church has also changed through the years. Originally First Assembly, it was renamed Gates of Praise when the congregation moved to the current location. Then in 2011, the church assumed the name Radiant inspired by Ephesians 5:26-27, “Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her  to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a RADIANT CHURCH, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.”

In recent years, Radiant became a part of the Apostolic Network of Global Awakening. It is our belief that more can be accomplished together than working alone.

Our Pastor

Dr. Connie Dawson became the lead pastor of Radiant Church in 2011. Pastor Connie is known for her straightforward, high impact preaching and teaching with divine revelation, which brings the Scriptures to life, and generates a hunger for more of His presence. Believers are established in foundational truths as she delivers powerful insights from the Word of God. She is an intercessor who seeks to have a deep and personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and the anointing she experiences in ministry is an overflow of her time of intimate prayer, worship, and waiting on God. Pastor Connie has a MA in Theology, a Master of Divinity, a MBA from the University of Colorado, and a Ph.D. in Renewal History and Theology from Regent University, VA Beach.

Dr. Dawson is the founder and director of Banner of Love Ministries, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Under this ministry, she and Bruce served as missionaries in China for five years where Connie worked with church leaders and taught in the underground Bible schools, and Bruce taught in government universities. They also served for five years in the Philippines at the Asia Pacific Theological Seminary where Bruce worked as the assistant business administrator, and Connie ministered with local pastors and traveled as an international conference speaker and teacher.

Currently, in addition to pastoring, Dr. Dawson is a professor for Global Awakening Theological Seminary  where she teaches Church and Revival History. She is an ordained minister with the Apostolic Network of Global Awakening. Before entering full time ministry, she was the founder and administrative director of Cardiology at Saint Elizabeth Medical Center here in Lincoln.

Pastor Connie and her husband Bruce have two married sons and six grandchildren.

Our Vision

“It’s all about love!!”

Our vision, the culture we seek to create, and the reason we exist as a church is simple -- to obey Jesus by loving God and loving people.

Radiant is a contemporary Spirit empowered church that seeks to love God and love people thereby training and equipping the saints to love the lost to Jesus. At Radiant we understand that we are all broken people whom God is putting back together again. Because we understand our fallen condition, we seek to be a safe place where everyone is welcome to “come as you are” and experience the love and acceptance of Jesus as well as to find friendship and encouragement in order to walk this amazing Christian journey together.

Jesus was once asked, “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus responded saying, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it; love your neighbor as yourself. There is no greater commandment than these.” (Mark 12:29-31)

After the resurrection and before Jesus ascended back to heaven, Jesus commissioned his disciples to continue His ministry. Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:18-20)  This is known as the Great Commission. Jesus’ mission is still our commission today and is one of the core emphasis at Radiant Church.

The people who call Radiant home seek to exalt Jesus Christ as the King and trust him to empower and enable us to do the work of the Kingdom for His glory. We seek to “be imitators of God . . . and live a life of love just as Christ loved us.” (Ephesians 5:1) Because it really is “all about love!!”
